How it was before
Daniela sells cereals, snacks, sweets, toys and disposable paper goods, retail and wholesale, and has her own factory of puffed cereals and noodles. It is one business with four tax IDs (CUIT) and five places that hold stock: the shop, the warehouse, an outside storehouse and two factories.
She came from Odoo, where a roll of film had to be entered as two products, loose and packed, with a kit so both take from the same stock. The stock also did not know whose goods they were: most suppliers invoice one owner and two invoice another, and when one buys from the other nothing moves, only the owner changes. Wholesale orders are delivered in parts, and when someone forgot to note what had gone out, nobody knew what was still pending.
What I built
One system in three parts. In the shop, a till with a barcode reader and an 80 mm receipt printer, which asks for the electronic invoice when the sale closes. In the warehouse, the wholesale side: quote, order, partial delivery note, invoice and payments, with each client’s balance calculated. Underneath, a catalogue with pack sizes and stock by place and by tax ID. The demo was up five days after the questionnaire and the live system seventeen days after it. On 5 November ARCA, the tax authority, was switched on for the two owners who invoice.

The decisions, and why
Stock is kept by place and by tax ID.
The same goods can sit in the warehouse under one owner and in the factory under another. When one buys from the other nothing moves: the owner changes, not the quantity.
What has been delivered on an order is calculated from the delivery notes.
Nothing is ever delivered beyond what was ordered, and if a delivery note is missing the order keeps showing what is pending. The slip stays visible instead of hiding inside a total.
The till sells and prints even when the internet drops.
In a shop a sale cannot wait for the connection. The receipt prints anyway and the invoice is requested from ARCA when the signal returns.
They never hand me a tax password.
Each owner does the ARCA paperwork from her own account. I connect the system with the certificate she generates, and the key stays hers.

Before and after
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| One roll entered as two products, with a kit | One product with roll, pack and bulk on a single stock |
| Who owns the goods, by eye | Stock by place and by tax ID, with ownership changes |
| Orders delivered in parts, unchecked | Partial delivery notes: what went out comes from them |
| A doubt about when to issue the fiscal receipt | The till requests the invoice from ARCA when the sale closes |
| Prices in an Excel file | Four price lists and a special price per client |
